oh.my.god.
Merfields House Turkey (first thing I ate there) fresh baked wheat bread, right from the oven, thinly sliced smoked turkey, cheddar cheese, crisp lettuce, and tomato slices. Did I mention the fresh from the oven bread? All soft and warm and delicious mmmm. Sooo good!
(I was at Q’s and got a togo order and ate it up at the bar one night. Ask Lent or Raj)
The Cumpton Panini is a slice of heaven!! Warm melty swiss cheese, sliced honey turkey, creamy dijon mustard all smooshed between two slices of fresh baked sour dough bread and then grilled to golden brown and deliciousness perfection! Ohmy
Broad Street Triple is pretty much a club sandwich, but so much better! Marble rye right from the oven is stacked three deep with smoked turkey, peppery pastrami, and sliced roast beef. On the cheese team we have swiss and cheddar! And just to round out the whole sandwich, red onion, lettuce, tomato and a touch of honey mustard make a nice addition.
The Main Street Panini is the ultimate grilled cheese for adults! Think fresh sliced sour dough with layers of swiss, cheddar, provolone, and monterey jack cheeses with a chive spread! All ooey, gooey, warm and melty. (I’m not sure if they make a homemade tomato soup, but oh dear god, could you imagine if they did! The angels would sing!)
Speaking of soups, they are good too; I have tired the broccoli/cheese and the chicken soup.
The broccoli & cheese soup was really good. Big chucks of broccoli, not just “flecks of broccoli type things” in the soup. Super rich though. And really thick. A real “stick to your ribs” soup. I can’t eat a whole cup so I split one with somebody.
The Chicken Soup kinda reminds me of a tortilla soup. It has a little “spicy” ting to it. Not hot, but just in the back of your throat, after you have had a few bites. (It came with a little packet of “corn strips” to put in the cup if you want, I guess this is where I came up with the tortilla soup part)
Oh and you get a fresh roll with your cup of soup. Fresh. Roll. Yum.
I have had a little bit of breakfast from there, too. Only the bagels though. Fresh. warm. Nice “bite” to them and not too “chewy” .
Bagel and Lox = breakfast fit for a king!!! I mean how can you go wrong with smoked salmon, cream cheese, red onion and a fresh tomato slice on a fresh bagel!! You. Just. Can’t.
The Asiago bagel rocks your socks too! I just lightly toasted it and put a smidge of butter on it for breakfast. Heaven! I would suggest that if you take these home, slice them in half and put them in the oven toaster (or the broiler), not your regular toaster. unless you like hardened cheese on the underside of your bagel.
The Cranberry was nice. Not too tart. Plenty of cranberries but not so many it was “gummy”. I sliced it and put it on the sheet pan with the asiago bagel, but you could totally but these in the toaster. I slathered a bit of butter on mine, toasty buttery goodness!
And lets not forget the good ol “plain” bagel. Perfect vessel for everything! Sweet butter? Check. Strawberry preserves? Check. Chive cream cheese? Check. Whatever your desire is, this bagel is the perfect platform to get it to your mouth!
I haven’t tried the cupcakes but they are next on my list! They are huge and look soo tempting sitting there in that glass case. They call out to me each time I stop by. I have resisted so far, but I know it is pointless. They. Will. Win. Big fluffy piles of freshly made icing sitting all high and mighty atop a moist, tender cake. Delicious perfection.
Oh and if you want, I know you can just order a loaf of bread “to go” so you can make your own sandwiches at home.
The rosemary looks way good. The sour dough is really good (I haven’t gotten a loaf yet, but Nann did and told me!)
Anyway now I’m starving and have to go get some lunch!
