At one, or both?

Very cool. I've been wanting to check out SJ and this gives me two shows for the price. Plus CN has my favorite beer.

Boozehound play country-rock. Very Cross Canadian Ragweedish. I haven't heard Scandalous Jane but I'm looking forward to checking them out for the first time.

SJ sounds like a mix of 70s punk with 90s hard rock--about half and half covers and originals. Very high energy music and interesting to have a female power singer. And, for full disclosure, my assessment comes from just one practice last night. I'm going to fill in for their very recently, and quite unexpectedly, resigned bassist.

I'm pretty lucky on this front, I guess. For the longest time, I bemoaned the fact that I could not find (or create) a band to do everything I would love to do. Now I realize that I'm actually sort of a nut job--even for a musician. I like playing a lot of different music and I like playing with a lot of different people. I also like performing more than once a month. The only real way to do this, without pressuring bandmates to do stuff they really don't like, is for me to play in a lot of different bands and projects. Plus, I've sort of developed this rep as a go to guy if you need a bassist on very short notice to get through a show. I guess there are worse reps I could have.

Scandalous Jane is really cool for me in that the musicians all kick ass, Lisa is a great vocalist and so energetic in practices that I can't wait to see what she does with an audience, and I am getting to play music I've never played before--including a lot of very cool original tunes. I'm having a blast with this group and with these songs and really looking forward to bringing it to the stage this Friday night.

Scandalous Jane is equally as excited to have Smitty playing bass for us. He has been nothing but professional in helping us in our "abandoning bass player" situation. Come see the show on Friday the 24th and be sure to get there by 9:30 as we're opening the show for Boozehound.

Many thanks to Smitty and to Boozehound!!
