Despite some audio problems during Eve's Descent's set...this turned out to be a very good show. Can't really say much about them, because I don't feel I saw them at their best. The band itself seemed very practiced & capable, but they were hampered by the fact that their "stage manager" did a very poor job in setting up the sound, did not do a proper sound check, and in general...was totally incompetent, as well as being a jerk. The stage mix was awful, & he didn't even check all the connections before starting the band up.
The sound was so bad, that several paying customers left, & went elsewhere. Unfortunately for Eve's Descent, their set was shortened due to this. I hate to see a hard-working band suffer because of someone else' incompetence. I'd definitely like to see this band again under more favorable circumstances.
Kelsey Camp, of Stoning Cain, & P.J. Abetya, of Out Of Ashes quickly diagnosed the problems with the sound, corrected them, and made sure the sound quality was there for the remaining two acts.
I was highly impressed with Land Of Mines...this band is well-worth seeing. With an air of professionalism, and maturity that comes from having many shows under their belt... this band executed their set with military precision, while still conveying the passion they have for their craft. Their originals are very well constructed, & technical...with deliberate breaks & changes that flow well, & keep the interest level high. If you have an opportunity to check these guys out, please do so!
Out Of Ashes was very competent, but not as experienced as LOM. High energy delivery, with good stage presence...the strongest points of this band would be the lead guitarist, & the drummer. They seem to be the underpinning of what this band is all about. Entertaining to watch, but still not quite there yet as a unit...it'll be interesting to see them after they gel & mature a little more, but all in all...a band worth seeing.
