Mystery Machine @ Hopkins Icehouse - 10/3 (4pm)

Postby SmittyG on Mon Sep 28, 2009 4:33 am

This coming Saturday, starting at 4pm, Hopkins Icehouse has street festival/benefit thing that Mystery Machine will be playing. I'm sorry I'm so shoddy with the information, but a quick Google hunt didn't land me what the event was about so I figured I would just get the thread started and let those who had access to the details post and fill in all that is going on.

From their Facebook:

Oktoberfest at Hopkins benefitting CASA will be the 3rd of October $20 tickets can be purchased at CASA, Hopkins or the Gazette. We are looking for sponsors as well. Outdoor band, food, beer included. Help CASA and have a good time all in one day. Thanks.

There is a flyer floating around somewhere but I don't remember where it is at the moment.

You know, the last time I payed $20 and showed up at a benefit at Hopkins (an hour after it started) the beer was gone. I'm stingy with my money, and I'd rather that money go toward a few beers (minimum) and the band, I can do without the food. Needless to say, I didn't stay long.

For cryin' out loud, somebody get there early this year and put aside a couple of beers for the lady. It's not rocket science, people. No Beer = No Puff.

Well, the band will be there early. But, then again, this band tends to get real thirsty. Could be a toss up on how that plays out for Puff.

We worked up some new songs at band practice last night. It's pretty cool, to me at least, that over the year I've been with this group, a little over 1/4th of our set list has changed up and there are about half a dozen songs already in the wings that should be added over the next couple of months. I enjoy it when things update regularly. For this show, there will be three songs I've yet to play on stage--I'm looking forward to the chance.

I'm excited that we have a great collection of polkas for the breaks.

Really.

I mean it.

We would have just played the polkas ourselves, but I was an ass and refused to learn how to play the tuba in one day. I was stunned to learn that Scott plays accordion. Of course, now that I think about it, that sort of explains a lot about his personality.
